The Gatehouse,
perhaps the most familiar of all campus buildings because of its
welcoming location at the main college entrance, was also built
in the late 1800s. It was redone in 1991 for use as a guesthouse. Today the two-bedroom building
is used for visiting scholars and artists. Its lighted tower serves as a beacon at night throughout
the collegiate year.
