About Davis & Elkins College
Nestled in the mountains of West Virginia, Davis & Elkins is a small liberal arts college with a big reputation.
Our students thrive on a caring combination of personal attention, academic challenge, and real-life experience. We believe in them and expect them to succeed. And they do.
Related to the Presbyterian Church (USA), Davis & Elkins College is located in Elkins, 2 hours east of Charleston, 3 hours south of Pittsburgh and 4 hours west of Washington, DC.
Programs
D&E offers more than 30 academic programs leading to baccalaureate and associate degrees, ranging from the traditional arts and sciences to professional studies - including nursing and teacher education - as well as innovative programs such as hospitality management and tourism.
Pre-professional programs prepare students for admission to schools of medicine, dentistry, forestry, the ministry, occupational therapy, pharmacy and law. The Honors Program offers an extra challenge.
Opportunities
Davis & Elkins is one of a small group of colleges nationwide that offer a Winter Term program. It's a three-week term in January when we offer intensive, often unusual courses to enhance education. Classes tend to be small and focused with plenty of hands-on activity. Some include an off-campus or study-abroad component. And during the regular semester, our students can intern with government agencies and corporations in the nation's capital, thanks to D&E's affiliation with The Washington Center.
Outcomes
Graduates of Davis & Elkins College go on to prestigious graduate programs and prominent national firms. In a recent survey, more than 80% of those who responded reported working in careers related to their academic major.
Location
Our scenic, wooded campus is located in Elkins, West Virginia, a lively, arts-oriented community of 10,000 in West Virginia's Potomac Highlands. Within the town are three National Register Historic Districts and a variety of shops, restaurants, and pubs. Just minutes away is the Monongahela National Forest -- almost a million acres of natural playground. Elkins is close to whitewater rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, and several popular ski resorts, including Snowshoe Mountain and Canaan Valley.
