Instructions for applying online to Davis & Elkins College  
  Tradition at Davis & Elkins College includes admitting students who will benefit most from the personalized educational experience to which the College is committed. The Enrollment Management Committee establishes guidelines for admissions that reflect the College’s desire to identify academically capable students who demonstrate potential for further achievement. The College seeks students who are active in both their school and community, who have a record of service, and who represent diverse cultures and backgrounds.  
 

Freshman Student Admission

Students interested in first year admission should:

  • 1 Complete the application form and return to the Office of Admissions.
  • 2 Request that an official transcript of the current high school record be forwarded to the College.
  • 3 Submit an official copy of either SAT or ACT results. (Nursing majors may submit results of the PAX-RN test.)
  • 4 Submit a statement of activities since graduation. (This applies only to applicants who have graduated from high school more than two years prior to the date of entrance.)
  • 5 Complete an interview with an Admissions Counselor during a campus visit. (This is not required, but can be helpful.)
  • 6 Submit letters of recommendation. (This is not required, but can be helpful.)
  • 7 Realize that they may need to complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if they are an international student.
 
 

General Educational Development (GED) Diploma

Applicants who have earned a diploma through the GED examinations must submit an official copy of their test results in place of their high school transcripts.

 
 

Transfer Admission

To apply as a transfer student from another college, applicants should submit the following:

  • 1. A completed application form.
  • 2. Official copies of all college transcripts.
  • 3. An official high school transcript or equivalent.
  • 4. A summary of your recent activities (if you have been out of college for one or more years).

To be considered for transfer admission, students should have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale from an accredited institution. All transfer credits are awarded with the grades earned at the institution(s) previously attended. A maximum of 64 credit hours from a community college or junior college may be transferred.

 
 

Readmission

Students interested in being readmitted to the college must submit the following:

  • 1. A completed application form.
  • 2. Official transcripts of all college work attempted since leaving D&E.
  • 3. A completed readmission application supplement form.
 
 

Nursing Applicants

Admission in the nursing program requires additional documentation. Please contact the current Nursing Admissions Counselor at 1.800.624.3157 x1230.
