Benedum Hall & Madden Student Center,
constructed with funds provided by the Claude Worthington Benedum
Foundation, was opened in 1963. Located on the crest of the hill
next to Graceland, it affords a scenic view of Elkins and the valley
and mountains beyond. In addition to a main dining hall, it contains
three private dining areas and the new Madden Student Center. The Center, named after the Madden donor
family, includes the college bookstore, Cadillac Daddy Cafe, Timms Lounge, patio, meeting room, game room, post office,
campus security, and the college radio station. A number of facilities, including a boardwalk, are named for major donors and sponsors
of the project.
