International Student Admission Requirements
International students seeking admission to Davis & Elkins College must possess academic preparation equivalent to an American high school diploma and command of the English language sufficient to participate in a full program of study. If English is a second language, a paper based TOEFL (PBT) score of 500, a computer based TOEFL (CBT) of 173, or an internet based TOEFL (iBT) score of 61 is required for unconditional acceptance to the College.
Any student who has achieved a PBT score of 457–499 or a CBT Score of 137-172 may be admitted on a conditional basis if all other entrance requirements are met. Students admitted on condition will be required to enroll in LAN 102, English as a Second Language.
Students who are not American citizens and wish to enroll at Davis & Elkins College must meet the following requirements for admission:
- An official transcript(s) in English, indicating the student's secondary school work and college work if appropriate.
- An official copy of the TOEFL examination results. An ACT or SAT test result may be substituted for the TOEFL results.
- A completed international student application.
- A completed international student certification of finances form along with a current bank statement.
- All international students requiring an I-20 must have all forms completed and turned in by May 30th for fall admission and September 30th for spring admission.
International students seeking admission should be referred to Nicki Hinkle in the Office of Admission.
An I-20 can only be issued once the student has been granted acceptance, official documentation of financial support has been received, and a $150 non-refundable deposit has been made. The deposit will reserve the students' place in the incoming class.
