Be an A/PART Program Volunteer

The Alumni/ Parent Admissions Recruitment Team (A/PART) is a volunteer program coordinated by the admissions and alumni offices to assist D&E Admissions Counselors in the recruitment efforts of the College. The program uses some of the best recruiters Davis & Elkins College has -- our alumni and parents -- for who better to promote the College than someone who has experienced it, either personally or through a son or daughter?

The A/PART program began taking shape in 2000 and currently has over 35 active members. During the 06-07 recruitment season, these members attended 28 college fairs, made countless high school visits and wrote numerous letters in an effort to expand Davis & Elkins College’s outreach.

A/PART members serve in a variety of ways. After they have been trained or have shadowed a counselor, they staff college fairs on behalf of D&E, visit area high schools in an effort to increase the College’s visibility, and call or write to prospective students in their area. Several A/PART volunteers also have offered to host informal recruitment gatherings in their communities. These efforts have not only increased awareness of Davis & Elkins College, but they have encouraged even more fellow alumni and parents to join the team.

College recruitment is a highly competitive area, and we know we aren’t looking for just any student, but the right student. The way to find the right student is to get out and be seen. All over our region, states are working very hard at keeping their college bound students home (in-state), but we are working hard to show them there is a great reason to leave home and come to Davis & Elkins College. Our A/PART volunteers are a vital asset in getting our message out.
