Clubs & Organizations

Accounting students may join the Davis & Elkins College Accounting Club. The purpose of the club is to promote careers in the accounting field as well as social interaction among accounting students. Club members also encouraged to serve the campus and surrounding communities with opportunities for social and intellectual development.

In addition, each year the Accounting Club of Davis & Elkins College operates a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site at the Five Rivers Public Library in Parsons, WV. A VITA site provides free income tax assistance to low income and elderly taxpayers who cannot afford to pay for professional income tax assistance.

For the 2005 income tax year, the accounting students volunteered over 150 hours at various locations in Randolph, Tucker, Barbour, Pocahontas, and Upshur counties. They prepared over 241 income tax returns and electronically filed almost 90% of them.
