"Our Duty, Heritage, and Privilege"
As a part of the Community Service requirement for our clubs and
fraternities, brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon sponsored a special
project which affects all citizens of the United States.
These dedicated and responsible young people helped our students register to vote in the November election. Voter registration among young people has been at
an all-time low the last few years and we here at the College were part of a nationwide effort to encourage our students to register. Posters and flyers were
placed around the campus promoting our "inherited right to vote". The Sig Ep members had a table set up in the College cafeteria where students could register
and those students who chose to use their campus address could register and vote here in Elkins. This project brought an awareness to our campus and to our
students about the importance of voting and also to stress that we do indeed have a voice in our government.
Members of the Sig Ep fraternity
who were instrumental in the project are: Garrett Wheeler, Josh Sydnor, Chris Paden, Tim Nickels, Matthew Cassella, Brent Cosner,
Louis Scott, and Chris Gilligan.
