Careers in Communication
Whether students plan to major in communication or to take a
few classes in order to explore the discipline, what they learn is sure to be useful
throughout their working lives. An exploration of that central drama of the human
condition-communication-in various contexts such as political, organizational,
intercultural, cross-gender, nonverbal, media, interpersonal, small group, rhetoric,
and so on, is intended to provide the students theoretical grounding and career flexibility.
These courses prepare them to be professionals as varied as politicians or lawyers, media
critics or media moguls, advertising executives or public relations experts, organizational
dynamics specialist or professional negotiators, communication managers for political leaders
across nations or for corporation czars across cultures, hell raisers in political/social
movements or subtle shifters of the zeitgeist through blogosphere, and, of course, scholars,
researchers, professors, and public intellectuals. |
