Thomas I. Hackman (2002), Assistant Professor of Theatre has earned his MFA in Technical Production from the
University of Virginia, with a thesis on the role of the Technical Director in the Design Process. He teaches most of
the Design and Technical Theatre courses here at D&E. Tom serves as the resident scene designer and technical director
for all D&E Theatre Program productions. He has previously served as a Technical Director and Scene Designer for several
professional and academic theatres, including the MUNY, The Heritage Repertory Theatre, and New Lyric Opera. Tom is
also active in the Southeastern Theatre Conference and the US Institute for Theatre Technology where he serves as
Vice-Commissioner of Health & Safety for the Scene Design Commission. In his free time, Tom enjoys caving and woodcarving.

Professor Terry Hayes has been at Davis & Elkins College since 1977 and during his long
career here and at colleges in Michigan, North Carolina, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas has been
involved in almost 200 theatre productions. He has been a scene designer, lighting designer, props
master, technical director, sound designer, director and on rare occasions, an actor. He received
his B.A. in theatre from New Mexico State University, his M.A. from the University of Denver and a
Master of Fine Arts from West Virginia University. He has directed performance abroad programs in
England, Scotland, Wales, Greece, and Bulgaria.
His hobbies include travel, photography, and driving trains, serving as the chief engineer on the
New Tygart Flyer, a scenic excursion train in Randolph and surrounding counties.

Matthew F. LaRose (1999), holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Temple University's Tyler School of Art and a
Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University. He was an artist in residence in Baltimore's School 33 Art Center from
1979-81, and received an artist fellowship for painting/drawing from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. His work
has been included in solo and group exhibitions at the Washington Street Gallery, Lewisburg; College of Notre Dame,
Baltimore, Md.; Bachelier-Cardonsky Gallery, Kent, Conn.; West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon; Davis and Elkins
College, Elkins; Avampato Discovery Museum at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences, Charleston; and Artscape 1993,
Baltimore's Festival for the Arts, among others. The West Virginia Commission on the Arts of the West Virginia Division
of Culture and History awarded LaRose a 2006 West Virginia Artists Fellowship Grant Award based solely on his previous
studio production and artwork.

Donna M. Moore (1995), Assistant Professor of Music graduated with distinction from the University of Rochester's
Eastman School of Music. She holds a Master of Music degree from West Virginia University and is currently completing a
doctorate in Piano Performance from WVU. She was a recipient of the ACA Jean Ritchie Fellowship in 2003-04 to complete
residency requiements in her discipline. Donna has been active as a piano accompanist for many productions at D&E
including musicals, operas and student recitals. She teaches piano, music appreciation, music history, elementary music
methods and accompanies the college choirs and chamber ensembles. She had a thriving private piano studio in Fairfax,
Virginia and participated in the Navy Band Recital Series in Washington, D.C. for many years. In her spare time, Donna
enjoys boating, beaches and travel.
