Giving to D&E
There is no simpler or more powerful way to express one's support for Davis & Elkins College than to make a financial contribution. Your gift, regardless of the size, helps make a Davis & Elkins education affordable for students and supports academic programs, extracurricular activities, upgrades to technology, and improvements to facilities. Your participation also sends a powerful message to others who support and evaluate higher education; foundations often request the College's alumni participation rate as part of a standard grant application, and college ranking organizations, such as U.S. News & World Report , use the institution's alumni participation rate as one of the indicators of quality.
The New Dawn Challenge
The New Dawn Challenge gives those who support Davis & Elkins College a special opportunity to increase the impact of their gifts. Launched in the fall of 2008, the $2.25 million New Dawn Challenge matches all new gifts to the College on a 1:2 basis; thus, every new gift will be increased by 50% through matching funds.
To successfully complete the challenge, the College must raise $4.5 million by June 30, 2011. During its first year, $2.3 million was raised toward the challenge.
You may direct your gift to the fund or project that best matches your interests. A number of current and ongoing funds are listed here. If you don’t find what you are looking for and would like to explore another idea, please contact Pat Schumann, Vice President for College Advancement, at (304) 637-1340 or email schumannp@dewv.edu.
