Benefits

Davis & Elkins College provides a competitive benefits package to its eligible employees. An open enrollment period is held annually in the late fall to provide employees an opportunity to select health plan options for the next year. Open Enrollment is an ideal time to take inventory of all plans, coverage types, and beneficiaries.

Health Insurance
Health Insurance is provided by the Principal Financial Group. The monthly employee cost is $215 for family coverage and $105 for single coverage. A prescription plan is included with the medical insurance.

Employees may enroll as a new hire, during open enrollment, or when they experience a life change (marriage, birth, adoption, etc.).

Principal offers a variety of tools to help you better understand your health and health insurance benefits. For more information go to http://www.principal.com and log in under individuals.

Vested Health
Vested Health is a consumer directed health care program that is offered to employees who participate in health insurance coverage offered by Davis and Elkins College. The college contributes funds each year into Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs) for each participant. Employees, through their Vested Health Account, may then use these monies to pay for medical expenses. Money that is not spent during the year stays in the account to use for subsequent years.

For more information and to access your account, go to http://www.vestedhealth.com/.

Dental Insurance
Dental Insurance is provided by SIEBA, LTD. The monthly employee cost is $20 for family coverage and $10 for single coverage.

Employees may enroll as a new hire, during open enrollment, or when they experience a life change (marriage, birth, adoption, etc.).

The total maximum amount that may be paid to or for a covered person under the plan is $1000 for eligible services during each plan year. The plan pays 100% of the first $100 of eligible expenses incurred in the plan year; you then pay a $50 deductible; and then the plan pays 80% of the next $400 of eligible expenses and 50% of up to the plan year maximum benefit of $1000.

For more information please contact the Human Resources Coordinator or your may contact SIEBA directly by calling 607-786-3003.

Flexible Spending Account
A Flex Plan is available through the Principal Financial Group. This plan allows the employee to have deductions from their pay for medical, dental and child care expenses on a pre-tax basis, which allows employees to reduce their tax liability. Enrollment in the Flex Plan occurs annually.

For more information contact the Human Resources Coordinator.

If you have specific questions regarding your Flexible Spending Account, please call 515-273-9122.

Life insurance is provided by Liberty Mutual to all full-time employees. The coverage is 2.5 times the employee's salary with a minimum of $50,000 and a maximum of $250,000. The college pays for this coverage. Coverage will decrease after employees reach age 65.

For more information contact the Human Resources Coordinator.

Retirement
An annuity contract will be opened for each full-time employee with TIAA-CREF. The college will pay the equivalent five percent of the employee's wages into the retirement contract. This percentage increased to ten percent after the sixth year of employment. The employee has the option to contribute a percentage of his/her wages to the contract.

For more information and to access your account, go to http://www.tiaa-cref.org/index.html and log in.

Campus Conduct Hotline
The Campus Conduct Hotline© is a confidential, independent risk-management service that gives students and employees a simple, anonymous way to alert administrators of unsafe or unethical behavior before it spirals out of control. The Campus Conduct Hotline© is available around the clock, seven days a week.

To use this service:
  • Dial toll-free 866-943-5787.
  • Your call will be greeted promptly and courteously by a person who makes certain you understand the Campus Conduct Hotline© program and how it functions.
  • At the beginning of the interview, you will receive a five digit case number that you should use to check back for updates and/or requests for additional information. Be sure to write this number down and keep it in a safe place.
  • You will then be interviewed about your question or concern. Your interview will not be recorded. Instead, the interviewer will be typing notes of your conversation. Whether or not you choose to provide your name is completely up to you.
  • Within one business day of your call, a summary of the interview will be forwarded to the college. Our goal will be to have a basic response back to you in five business days.
  • To receive your response, you will need to call back and provide the five digit case number that has been assigned to you. You will be able to continue checking back for updates until your case is closed.

The Workforce Enrichment Team (W.E.T.), established in 2004, is made up of representatives from all areas of the campus including Parkhurst, Sodexho, the bookstore, and the student body. The purpose of W.E.T. is to recommend and initiate ways to improve the work environment through better attitude, communication, and awareness.

W.E.T. has established a number of plans and goals which include:
  • Phone training for staff - both in equipment use and in proper etiquette;
  • A New Employee Orientation;
  • Better ways to acknowledge employees who may be experiencing illness, death in the family, or a happy new addition in their family;
  • Communication improvements utilizing both print and web-based means to better inform all on campus of important topics and events; and,
  • A Wellness Program for the campus community
Scott Goddard currently serves as the chair of the Workforce Enrichment Team. The group will continue to develop projects to make D&E a better place to work and learn.
