Department Philosophy
We endeavor to provide the conceptual and methodological tools necessary to
understand the personal and social dynamics that motivate people and social institutions. Our
pedagogy is grounded in strong professor-student relationships that encourage experiential
methodologies whenever appropriate. We value the application of knowledge and skill in service
to people and society. We aim to develop people competent and confident to play their role in
a complex and rapidly changing world.
